Respiratory Care Practitioner

The practice of Respiratory Care under the direct supervision of a medical director, and department director; performs, management, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the pulmonary system and associated aspects of cardiopulmonary and other systems function within the scope of practice of Respiratory Care Practice Act 1996. The Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment of initiative to apply prescribed treatments and testing in a safe, professional manner. The Respiratory Therapist is a certified or registered therapist who is accountable and responsible for the delivery of direct respiratory care to all age ranges of patients from neonates to adults and through the assignment and direction of the Patient Care Leader, utilizing a collaborative care patient management process, meeting established standards of respiratory care and integrating other health care team members.

Required qualifications:

Formal training in pediatric respiratory care which includes didactic and clinical experience. California Respiratory Care Practitioner License  Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association  Within 90 days of hire: National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association Within 90 days of hire: National Provider PALS - American Heart Association

Preferred qualifications:

1 year Acute care setting, to include adult critical care. Neonatal Intensive Care experience.   Membership in a professional organization; CSRC, AARC
