Respiratory Care Tech - Part Time
**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** As our Respiratory Care Tech at MercyOne, you will perform patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, and administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring of patient. These services are provided as appropriate for patients of diverse ages. In order to be successful in this role, you’ll need to build trust in all your interactions through your professionalism and work ethic. You are very knowledgeable in all areas of your role but always eager to learn more. You keep impeccable records and knowledge of the current electronic medical record system. Confidentiality is of utmost importance to you. You keep your work are organized and clear of clutter. Most of all, you understand how vital your role is in the diagnosing and treating of our patients and you’re eager to help us succeed in making them better. **Day-to-day overview:** + Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium-oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide-oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, and PEP therapy. + Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists with intubation, manual ventilation and management of artificial airways. + Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical precursors. + Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry. + Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions. + Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures. **Minimum Requirements:** + Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program; one year of program completed. + Successful completion of Respiratory Care Department orientation. + Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. + Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire. **Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion** Trinity Health is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic healthcare systems in the nation.
