Job Summary:
Responsible for execution and oversight of new employee orientation, department preceptorship, student rotations, competencies, and training of new processes, protocols, and policies. Serves as a clinical resource/support to the staff, physicians, patients, families, and other departments while simultaneously providing needed clinical patient care. (This role may frequently require the duty of a patient assignment). Responsible for promotion and monitoring of PI initiatives. Responsible for data collection and analysis of PI activity or outcomes. Customer Service, and Safety and Quality Initiatives for designated shift.
1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
a. Provides onboarding, department orientation for clinical students,employees and completion of Initial Competency Assessment (ICA)
b. Provides and validates staff training for advanced Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) skills
c. Provides scheduling, preceptor alignment and liaison to schools during student clinical rotations
d. Provides ongoing staff training on electronic medical record updates
e. Executes training on all policies and protocols
2. Professional Development
a. Assesses staff learning needs and implements strategies to meet the needs (formal or informal)
b. Participating member for competency development and staff validation
c. Ensures new equipment and supply training is provided
3. Evidence Based Practice
a. Promotes best practice and performance improvement (PI) projects
b. Participates in data collection and best practice research relevant to facility
Evaluates respiratory therapy treatment plan effectiveness by observing, recording, and evaluating patient progress and recommends and necessary adjustments to treatment plan.
4. Resource and Support
a. Participates in respiratory system policy and procedures updates and protocol development
b. Assists with Computer Based Learning (CBL) module reviews
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Minimum 3 years Three to Five years clinical experience to work in all critical care areas but not limited to Adult ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, PICU, Emergency Departments (Adult and Pediatric) as it relates to each facility Required
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Inter and Intra-departmental coordination of patient care activities
Delegation skills required
Ability to multi-task essential
Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential
Strong detail orientation required
Computer skills required
