Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist is responsible for overseeing workload assignments, managing human resources, and ensuring the provision of high-quality respiratory care during their assigned shift. This role includes performing respiratory care procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, advanced airway management, and related diagnostics, while serving as a resource for the nursing staff within departmental and hospital guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and coordinate respiratory care activities, ensuring appropriate staff allocation based on patient acuity and work volume.Perform routine and advanced respiratory care procedures, including diagnostics and emergency airway management.Participate in the hiring process by screening applicants and making hiring recommendations.Oversee staff performance, including orientation, competency reviews, probationary evaluations, and annual performance reviews.Address staffing and employee issues, communicating concerns promptly to the Director of Cardiopulmonary or House Supervisor as appropriate.Serve as a resource for nursing staff and actively participate in staff education and competency remediation.Support the Mission and Core Values of Community Hospital of San Bernardino, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the hospital's strategic goals.

The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient care and supporting the operational goals of Community Hospital of San Bernardino.


Qualifications
One (1) year previous experience as an RCP in acute care is preferred. Two (2) years of acute care experience including critical care and neonatal intensive care for lead therapist positions is preferred.Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Respiratory care services is pediatric department shall be provided by respiratory care practitioners who are licensed by the state of California and who have completed formal training in pediatric respiratory care which includes didactic and clinical experience.Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationPediatric Advanced Life Support(PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation program (NRP) certification is required.  Experience in pediatric mechanical ventilation and airway management for working in the pediatric sub-acute unit is preferred.
