Under the direct supervision of a respiratory therapist, assists in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients. Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment. **Responsibilities:** * Assists in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients. * Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment. * Assists with patient care rounds per policy. * Provides and monitors routine oxygen therapy, non-critical patient transports and patient education, as needed. * Treats patients using a variety of methods including chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive methods such as CPAP and BIPAP therapies. * Monitors and records the progress of treatment. * Teaches patients how to use treatments. * Operates, calibrates, processes, and maintains respiratory equipment. * Cleans, reassembles, and performance tests various pieces of patient care equipment. * Restocks respiratory supplies and cylinders. * Actively pursues education and training necessary to become a respiratory therapist. * Performs other related duties as required and directed. **Required:** * High school graduate or GED equivalent. * Currently enrolled, with successful completion of three semesters, and in good standing with a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved respiratory care program. * BLS certification.
