Essential Functions 

 Provide direct supervision of assignments and workflow daily for the Respiratory Therapy Department.• Develop Respiratory Therapy departmental policies and procedures and keeps these current.• Serves as liaison in the absence of the Director of Cardiopulmonary Neurophysiology Services.• Participates in rotating Administrative Call.• Supervise the training and instruction of new Respiratory Therapy employees; provide technical guidance and direction as required.• Provides administrative oversight and support to the Sleep Lab Coordinator and staff as needed.• Monitor inventory and evaluate new equipment for possible utilization in the department.• Maintain liaison with appropriate administrative staff, physicians, nursing services, laboratories and other Hospital personnel regarding problems, treatments and departmental priorities.• Develop and implement infection control measures in accordance with applicable safety standards.• Assist in implementation of new policies and keep employees abreast of new developments.• Direct a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules and disciplinary actions.• Participate in direct patient care as indicated by the needs of the department or under the direction of the Director of CPNS.• Identify and prepare departmental objectives and submit related progress reports as directed by the Director of CPNS.• Serve on a variety of committees and represent the Hospital at various professional and accrediting organizations to keep abreast of current technical, educational and accrediting standards related to areas of responsibility.• Supervise the processing of patient charges for Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Lab by participating in an annual CPT audit to determine charges are appropriate and correct.• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein and at the direction of the Director of CPNS.• Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills to understand and react effectively to provide appropriate care to all patients: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.• Participates in department and hospital wide continuous quality improvement process.• Will contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment and the employee’s own personal safety by following all policies and procedures and performing all tasks safely.


Minimum EducationAssociate's Degree RequiredBachelor’s Degree PreferredGraduate of a program in Respiratory CareRequired SkillsBasic Life Support (BLS)Advanced cardiac life support (ALCS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification _ will be required within 6 months of hireLicenses:Respiratory Therapist Licensed with Kentucky Board of Respiratory CareRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Minimum Work ExperiencePrior experience in management, charge, supervisor, or other leadership PreferredPrior experience in field of discipline Preferred
