St. Alexius CHI is looking for a Full Time Respiratory Therapist to join the team!
To provide and coordinate high quality Respiratory Therapy upon the order of a licensed physician to promote the health and recovery of patients served by the St. Alexius Medical Center.The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides high quality respiratory care through demonstration of knowledge and application of HHN, CPT, IPPB, CPAP, BiPAP, Apnea Monitoring, Aerosol Therapy, Medication Administration, Oxygen Therapy, Invasive and Non-Invasive Mechanical Ventilation to patients in the alternative care setting. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will communicate when appropriate any concerns regarding care provided to those allied health professionals and physicians involved in the care of the patient.
What You'll Do:Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.Conduct phone calls to patients, referrals sources and physicians to coordinate patient care. Complies with patient care and documentation procedures to ensure patient protection and safety.Monitor patients for compliance with physician prescription and understanding of equipment and supplies.Responsible for provision of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.Update respiratory therapy job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Employ evidence-based practice. Integrate best research with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care, and participate in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.Actively participates in department meetings.Performs basic and intensive respiratory therapies, including but are not limited to; aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen therapy, diagnostics, patient/family education, invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, patient transport, mechanical ventilation management, hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, capnography, rapid response team member, inhaled nitric oxide. Drawing, analyzing and reporting results from arterial, venous, capillary and spinal fluid samples for Point of Care testing.Actively participates in daily patient rounds.Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited/AMA certified School of Respiratory Therapy. An Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
Licensure: Licensed with the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care.
Experience: Must complete phase I and phase II general respiratory therapy orientation to be considered. Must have completed Phase III Respiratory Therapy orientation in at least one of the following areas, as required for the area worked in by the Therapist: Pulmonary Function Lab, Sleep Center, ICU, NICU or Pulmonary Rehab to be considered a RT III.
