Responsibilities Responsible for providing respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians as per established standards and practices. Assists physicians in the treatment and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Mitigates problems that arise between Respiratory Therapy and other health care professionals. Responsible for making daily assignments among other Practitioners. Qualifications Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc.: Obtained certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), Current Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care Practitioner License and Current BLS/CPR certification. Obtain ACLS, PALS, and NRP within six months of hire. Special Skills, Knowledge: Understands Respiratory Care that includes invasive and noninvasive methods of delivering therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures: maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment. Knowledge in both Adult and Pediatric ventilator applications. At the request of the physician or in case of an emergency situation where a medical provider is unavailable, the Respiratory Therapist may maintain patient airway by use of alternate airway or intubation if necessary. Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of a traditional or non-traditional program for CRT eligibility. Passed the certification exam administered by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
