Respiratory Therapist - Diagnostic - Per Diem

Work Schedule:

This is a part time, per diem position. 8 or 10-hour day shifts scheduled between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM and 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Diagnostic to:

Work for an ECMO Center of Excellence and a Level 1 Trauma Center. Perform various testing, such as spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, respiratory muscle forces and impulse oscillometry to help determine the course of treatment, guide medication changes, and clearance for surgery. Provide aerosolized medication, volume expansion, airway clearance techniques, tracheostomy cares and sputum inductions to patients. Educate patients and their family about existing health problems and related therapies, diagnostic tests, oxygen therapy and home equipment. Collaborate with physicians, care team leaders, staff nurses, other caregiving disciplines, and patients/families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care for each patient.

 

Education:

Minimum – Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Care.

Preferred – Completion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education course. Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy.

 

Work Experience:

Minimum – Experience performing spirometry.

Preferred – Experience performing pulmonary function testing beyond spirometry.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum –

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of Wisconsin BLS/CPR Certified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) within 1 year of hire. Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) within 2 years of hire.

Preferred –

ACLS certified National Asthma Educator certification
