Respiratory Therapist DME
Overview Provide clinical support and care to oxygen, positive airway pressure, and ventilator patients. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Setup and provide education/instruction on safe use of respiratory equipment in accordance with written physician prescription and patient evaluation. Completes the necessary paperwork/documentation and follow-up according to Mercy Assisted Care and Health System policy and procedures in a timely and appropriate manner. Assess respiratory patients’ needs and establish care plans based on patient evaluation. Monitors patient’s compliance with services/equipment, following up as necessary with patient and other healthcare providers regarding patient treatment, progress, and compliance. Verifying/entering patient data including demographics, insurance information. Troubleshoots equipment/supply issues to make sure patients equipment operates effectively. Accurately enters orders to reflect what was given to/picked up from patients. Is part of a team responsible for accurate inventory levels, making sure the department always has adequate stock levels. Knowledge of insurance coverage criteria for respiratory equipment and services provided. Stays current on new respiratory products and supplies such as CPAP, BiPAP and cough assists. Can function in an on-call, after hours role to make decisions to resolve customer issues, questions and deliver equipment. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program Two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification and Licensure Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist Licensed by the State of Wisconsin and/or the State of Illinois Approved CPR or BLS For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. For those driving their personal vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.
