Respiratory Therapist - Galveston Pulmonary Laboratory **Galveston, Texas, United States** **New** Allied Health UTMB Health Requisition # 2406261 **Minimum Qualifications:** Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy, or completion of the associate degree equivalency, and successful passage of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) exam. **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS** **Required:** Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Must maintain credentials with the NBRC as well as licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Current BLS and ACLS. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) + PFT testing and/or Bronchoscopy experience. + ·Must maintain credentials with the NBRC as well as licensure as a Respiratory Care + Practitioner (RCP) with the Texas Department of State Health Services. + 3-4 years’ experience Respiratory Therapist **JOB DESCRIPTION:** Provides competent basic and specialty respiratory care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and individualizing care to meet unique patient needs. **Marketing Statement:** UTMB Health is looking for passionate Respiratory Therapist to help lead our thriving and rapidly growing **Respiratory/Pulmonary** Program. Now offering new Increased rates, shift differential, weekend differential, and advancement opportunities. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** + Assesses the respiratory care needs of patients. + Identifies and reviews patient diagnosis/patient care needs and the contraindications and possible complications of patients of performing pulmonary function testing. + Demonstrate proficiency in department workflow and scheduling appointments. + Performs and becomes proficient in pulmonary function testing including but not limited to spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion, arterial blood gases, cardiopulmonary exercising testing, six-minute walks, respiratory pressures, bronchoprovocation, impedance oscillometry, pentamidine treatments, exercise-induce bronchospasm, and bronchoscopy per department policies. + Documents appropriately in testing software, patient medical record, and department charting. + Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. + Assist in maintaining supply requirements in department and stocks inventory as needed. + Recognizes education/experience limitations and seeks expertise as needed. + Participates in department meetings and trainings. + Becomes proficient in calibrations, quality control, analyzer functions, surveys, and inspections. + Demonstrates initiative and accepts continual learning environment and constructive feedback. + Works well in team environment and independently. + Adheres to assigned work schedule, annual training, and other job duties as assigned. **Marginal or Periodic Functions:** + Meets periodic UTMB and department specific compliance requirements for health screening, training, attendance, safety, and CPR. + Performs related duties as required. **KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES** + Strong communication skills. + Ability to work well with a medical team and under the direct supervision of a physician. + Possess a broad knowledge of the pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system and the complex procedures required to properly diagnose and treat patient. **Salary:** $29.92 - $46.55; Salary commensurate with experience **Shift diff** Evening: $2.70 Night: $3.50 Weekend $.90 **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
