Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. Performs direct patient care and the provision of Respiratory Care procedures in all areas within the facility.
Performs all procedures according to policy & procedure. Organizes workload to ensure therapy is completed as proscribed.
Participates in all aspects of RC educational activities & departmental meetings.
Documents & maintains records, charts and reports in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
Responds to all Medical Alerts in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
Exercises sound clinical judgement & assessment skills to provide appropriate provision of patient care & monitoring & communication of information to other caregivers.
Evaluates patient care & makes recommendations when needed.
Special trained – Performs Pulmonary Functions and EKG
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Training:
Zero to less than one year of experience in Respiratory Care
Participation in the National Board for Respiratory Care's (NBRC) Continuing Competency Program to maintain credential if received credential after July 1, 2002
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist.
Respiratory Care Practitioner by the SC Board of Medical Examiners
BLS certification
ACLS certification Must complete within 3 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training.)
PALS and NRP certification Must complete within 6 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training.)
