Responsible for the delivery of respiratory therapy and patient care following physician’s orders, hospital policies and procedures; and departmental standards of care and standards of practice. **Responsibilities:** + Performs therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary and cardiovascular procedures. + Evaluates patient/resident response to respiratory therapy and takes appropriate corrective action. + Provides education to patients and staff regarding respiratory procedures, equipment operation, and safety precautions. + Performs routine maintenance and service checks on equipment. + Maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work. **Requirements for a Respiratory Therapist Registered:** + Associate degree in a Respiratory Therapist Educational Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Bachelors degree preferred. + Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist. + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the NBRC. + BLS certification. **N** **OTE: Respiratory Interns, Graduates, or Certified, qualifications may vary see below:** + Enrolled or graduate of an A.M.A. approved respiratory care education and training program (or equivalent), who is awaiting successful completion of either the NBRC Entry Level: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Advanced Practitioner: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and state examinations. Employee must become credentialed and licensed during the first year of employment.
