Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapy Assistant works under the direct supervision of a Respiratory Therapist in accordance to the respiratory care plan to deliver basic respiratory assistance and/or interventions to our patients.  As a member of the direct care team, the Respiratory Therapy Assistant is responsible and accountable for complete and accurate collection and recording of data, completion of routine and delegated respiratory tasks and communicating and collaborating with the Respiratory Therapist to prioritize workload.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: one of the following:

Enrollment in a respiratory therapy program and completion of one semester of clinical experience.Completion of a certification, diploma or degree in a healthcare field and one year experience providing direct patient care in a healthcare setting.

Preferred/Optional: Enrollment in a respiratory therapy program and completion of one semester of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.  Applicable certifications and/or licenses based on healthcare certificate/diploma/degree held.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
