Position Summary: Performs with minimal supervision, therapeutic procedures to include oxygen and other medical gas therapy/administration, administration of aerosolized medications through established modalities, implements and monitors established departmental protocols and/or organizational clinical pathways, patient assessment (chest auscultation, oximetry, pulse, respiration’s, blood pressure, clinical and subjective observations), diagnostic procedures (arterial puncture, pulmonary function testing, end‐tidal CO2 monitoring, ECG), CPAP and NPPV, ventilator support and management and patient/family education relative to respiratory disease processes, interventions and outcomes to hospitalized and outpatient clientele. Assists in providing multidisciplinary staff education relative to respiratory care.

Must possess an abiding commitment to basic ethical and legal principles. May be required to work holidays, weekends or shifts other than which are considered.
Essential Functions: 1. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the following areas commonly encountered in the care of patients with respiratory disease entities: a) Thoroughly reviews the Medical Record to obtain pertinent clinical information, evaluates data, assesses patient objectively and subjectively. b) Implements and/or administers all prescribed testing, therapies and/or protocols appropriately in compliance with established standards, while ensuring all pertinent patient/family education has been provided. c) Assists in ensuring a multi‐disciplinary approach to respiratory care thorough dialogue and discussion with RRT, other healthcare providers and physicians; seeks additional consults as appropriate. d) Consistently provides accurate, thorough documentation in the Medical Record as identified per departmental, organizational and regulatory agency requirements. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in the following areas relative to Respiratory Care a) Equipment: b) Disassembles and reassembles; ensures proper function. c) Ensures equipment is compliant with appropriate Preventative Maintenance requirements prior to patient use. d) Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work environment. e) Maintains appropriate stock par levels; assists with ordering and stocking procedures. 3. Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to all organizational and departmental Policies and Procedures as identified. 4. Complies with all organizational and departmental requirements as identified: a) AEUR b) CPR c) Annual Physical d) Department Meetings e) All other mandatory inservices/requirements as identified 5. Assists with specific projects and/or reports as assigned 6. Assists in developing skills of personnel, to include Respiratory Care, Nursing and Ancillary staff, in Respiratory Care Policies and Procedures, equipment/therapy, protocols and/or diagnostic procedures as assigned

The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $51.53/hr
