Respiratory Therapy Team Leader

Description:ADULT CRITICAL CARE:

Serve as liaison between the adult critical care areas and the RT dept.
\tHave working knowledge of all equipment utilized in the adult critical care area relative to RT.
\tWork with all RT’s to provide continuous quality care to patients in critical care.
\tPerform and maintain competency for endotracheal intubation
\tMaintain ACLS certification.
Assure that required staff ventilator competencies are completed.
\tAssure proper daily coverage for all intensive care units
Assure the training of new therapists in the intensive care units
\tReview policies and procedures annually for appropriateness and accuracy
\tMaintain equipment and supply par levels in each unit
\tOffer hands on workshop on mechanical ventilation, Bipap-Cpap, EtCO2, CXR, Trach care, PMV, ABG etc.
\tWork with nursing educators to provide continuous staff education to enhance interdepartmental relations to ensure quality patient care.
\tEnlist Intensivists and or other physicians to provide yearly CEU offering.
\tKeep abreast of latest technology, evaluate new products and report to leadership team.
\tStrategize with leadership team to ensure that critical care areas are up to date with community standards.
\tMeet regularly with RT leadership team to discuss issues relative to critical care.
\tAttend monthly infection control committee meeting,
\tAttend monthly critical care advisory committee meeting
\tAttend monthly department meeting
\tProvide 2 annual CEU offerings related to critical care.
\tWork closely with Bio med to keep equipment running smoothly and available for use.
\tCollect and submit monthly KPI data prior to monthly medical directors meeting.
\tAct as relief supervisor when necessary

Position Purpose

As an RRT, you will work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a licensed clinical professional in a clinic or practice environment. An RRT helps patients who are having trouble breathing.

What you will do:

Coordinate and oversee Bronch Service line procedures including Bronchoscopy, Ebus and use of DaVinci robotic navigational equipment.Staff training and competency for BronchPolicy review and upkeep. Oversight of scope cleaning and cleaning competencyOversight of the ordering of bronch area supplies.Performs floor care therapies and oxygen administration following proper policy and procedure.Performs floor care therapies and oxygen in an acute care setting.Performs or assists with endotracheal intubation as indicated in a safe mannerPerforms endotracheal extubation as indicated in a safe manner.Maintains clinical competency for mechanical ventilation in adult critical care units.Able to perform arterial blood gas draws in a safe and effective manner from radial, brachial and femoral arteries.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program required.Work experience in all aspects of respiratory care preferred.Competency in blood gas laboratory, maintenance, PFT and bronchoscopy assistance a plus.Registration by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.Current State of Florida License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Department of Health.BLS certification required. ACLS required
