Job Description

Acts as a scientific liaison between Cardiology professionals and internal BMS stakeholders through medical exchanges related to BMS products and associated therapeutic areas. We are preferably looking for a candidate located in Vancouver or Alberta.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties:

Meets and develops strong rapport with Cardiology Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and maintain knowledge of their clinical practice, needs and interests.

Ensures that data on BMS pipeline products is appropriately communicated in an efficient and timely manner through scientific exchanges.

Collects Medical insights & competitive intelligence.

Provides input into the Regional Field Medical plan

Plans, organizes and executes Regional Medical activities in collaboration with head office and field matrix teams

Provides clinical trials support in collaboration with Regional Clinical Operations 

Helps to identify Investigator-Sponsored Research Trials (ISRs) as part of strategy development for the therapeutic area in Canada.

Keeps abreast of key Cardiology treatment trends and emerging clinical science and ensures that this information is shared with appropriate BMS departments.

Ensure that all adverse drug events are reported in a timely and efficient manner as per BMS Policies & Directives.

Attends company and scientific meetings.

Reports to MSL Manager, cardiology

Education:

Pharm.D./M,D./Ph.D. in life sciences. Two or more years of experience in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical, drug information, clinical research or other related industry. A Masters Degree in life sciences or health or equivalent could be considered if the candidate has a strong clinical experience or background in cardiology.

Competencies:

Strong scientific acumen especially in cardiology

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, scientific/medical information to a diverse audience of both internal and external customers.

Is able to establish strong rapport with internal and external customers including Cardiologists, investigators, other health care providers, patient groups and pharmacists

Understands clinical research in the field of Cardiology including Good Clinical Practices and ethical, governmental and regulatory requirements as they relate to clinical research and to the pharmaceutical industry as well.

Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

Has the ability to understand and frame medical / research / scientific in relation to the specific constraints and requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.

Superior interpersonal and team-working skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and unexpected issues that may arise.

Strong moral and ethical values.

Strong motivation.

Expected to travel 60 % of the time with focus in Western provinces and must have a valid driver's license

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
