RESTORATIVE AIDE-Position # 21919 for unit 8-8 /8-9 $21.78 an hour!!

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee, the Restorative Aide performs restorative nursing procedures that maximize the resident’s existing abilities, emphasize independence instead of dependence, and maximize the negative effects of disability with an attitude of realistic optimism under the supervision of the rehabilitation and nursing staff.

Patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Communicates effectively with Charge Nurse regarding patients’ needs and requests.

Observes and reports any changes in the residents’ physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and social well-being.

Orients patient to environment and develops rapport with patients, family and significant others.

Organizes, implements, and provides restorative care services, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.

Assists in standardizing the methods in which restorative care will be accomplished. Maintains restorative care standards.

Informs resident of procedures involved in restorative care and prepares necessary equipment. Demonstrates to residents and nursing personnel, as necessary, the procedures involved in the treatment process.

Assists in transporting residents to and from therapy room/area.

Reassures resident before and during therapy treatment. Remains alert for resident safety during any/all therapy or treatments.

Prepares resident for treatment by dress/position and administers restorative care in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Encourages residents to perform and participate in ADL functions. Also provides encouragement to perform range of motion exercises.

Instructs and supervises resident during therapy.

Assists residents in ambulatory training, as necessary.

Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.

RESIDENT RIGHTS

Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information. Ensures that therapy personnel knock before entering the resident’s room. Ensures that all restorative care personnel are knowledgeable of the residents’ responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse treatment. Ensures that therapy personnel honor the residents’ refusal of treatment request. Reports such requests to the Director of Nursing or Associate Director of Nursing. Abide by the resident’s participation in treatment decision. Allows the resident to participate in the planning and scheduling of his or her treatment.

Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy.

Participates in CQI activities as assigned.

Assists other personnel as needed.
