ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a restorative nurse or therapist, performs restorative care services that maximize the resident’s existing abilities, emphasize independence, and minimize the negative effects of disability.
Performs resident related restorative care services as determined by the Director, Clinical Services or Physical Therapy and in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern senior care facilities.Assists patients in becoming ambulatory with appropriate equipment and in a safe manner. Removes splints or prostheses in transferring the patient from one location to another. Encourages patients to help themselves whenever possible. Provides the patient with good body alignment and positioning when in wheelchairs or on walkers.Follows designated patient care plans in helping patients with active range of motion (AROM) and passive range of motion (PROM) as assigned.Monitors and reports daily activities of patients to include evaluating and documenting patient progress.Assists licensed nursing staff and other members of the health care team in providing activities of daily living, gives emotional and social support and performs numerous tasks for the comfort and welfare of the resident.Maintains treatment records, resident files, and progress notes as required. Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the administrator concerning restorative care services.Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.May be required to interpret restorative care policies and procedures for personnel, residents, family members, etc., as necessary.Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in the health care field, as well as to maintain a professional status.Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.This job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above referenced position. QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Current Certified Nursing Assistant license and a minimum of 12 months relevant experience in restorative care are required.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Successful completion of State C.N.A. course. CPR certification may be required.
Management/Decision Making
Makes standard and routine decisions based on detailed guidelines with little independent judgment. Problems are generally solved with clear, detailed guidelines or by reporting them to a supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
Has a basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. Has basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. Has a basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served. Must have working knowledge of facility emergency procedures including fire and disaster drills. Ability to follow facility policies. Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies.
