In this position... 
You will Lead Design, Release, Validation, and Launch of occupant restraints systems and components for new model vehicle programs. Support on-going project development for various restraints commodities. 


What you'll do...
•Will be responsible for all phases of engineering and integration - design concept, production release, validation, product launch.
•Lead full-service suppliers in engineering, package, and assembly feasibility for responsible components on time and within cost and weight targets to meet performance objectives.
•Manage supplier design development to support all Engineering, Production Tool Kick-off, and Build Milestones on time.
•Manage Engineering sourcing deliverables with Purchasing, Finance, and Suppliers (Statement of Work (ESOW), Engineering Concepts (EC), Bill of material (FEDEBOM)).
•Validate designs through the Ford design validation process, resolving all issues in a timely manner.
•Contribute to corporate and department TVM and quality objectives.


You'll have... 
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
•5+ years of experience in Design and Release of automotive components and systems.
•3+ years of experience in Design and Release of occupant restraints systems and components (seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, occupant classification) or supportive or related systems such as Seats and Instrument Panel.
•Proven leadership and communication skills to steer cross functional teams to solve complex systems integration issues.
•Effective risk assessment abilities to escalate engineering discussions to medium and senior leadership levels for issue resolution.


Even better, you may have...
•Knowledgeable in the use of analytical and design tools (CAD, CATIA, Teamcenter, GD&T, RSS/DVA studies, FMA/DFMEA, FEA/CAE).
•Experience with complex systems, sewing, mechanisms, inflator technology, injection molding, metal forming, assembly methods.
•Ability to compile and analyze data in the form of a decision matrix, report summary, etc. to be presented to management team.
•Experience working with Ford internal systems (WERS, AIMS, FEDE).

This position is a salary grade 8.
