Retail Business Interns will be given the opportunity to participate and gain knowledge in various types of operational functions within the Retail Department. Retail Interns will need to interact with Guests, Associates, Seasonal Management, and Full-Time Management on a daily basis. Interns may attend seminars to further their learning. Additionally, Retail Interns will gain experience related to, but not limited to, business planning, sales, inventory control and hospitality management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to promote the park with the utmost enthusiasm and pride. Greet guests enthusiastically and professionally. Time management and productivity skills Ensure a safe and clean work area. Promote the sale of products with impeccable guest service and ensure guest satisfaction through verbal salesmanship w/ guests and the use of suggestive selling techniques to raise sales. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of visual and merchandising presentations with respect to the Six Flags standards. Assist the area supervisor with replenishment of stock. Operating a register in an accurate and expeditious manner. Assist in training and motivation of staff on a day to day basis to ensure team quality standards. Assist in ensuring that all policies and procedures pertinent to area are followed. Complete any and all tasks as requested by Six Flags Management.Qualities of Successful Merchandise Intern:
Must possess above average communication skills. Must react well in stressful and emergency situations. Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Safety conscious. Outgoing, friendly, and professional demeanor when interacting with Guests and Associates. Willing to actively engage Guests. Ability to take on and implement a wide spectrum of assignments, including front-line and back-of-the-house tasks.Special Duties and Responsibilities:
Must clock in and out each day using the phone system to receive correct pay for the week. Be able to work as a Team or independently depending on job responsibility. Maintain proper attendance and timeliness. Ensure guest safety and satisfaction in their stay at Six Flags. Respond to any emergency situation in the area and maintain control until an area supervisor arrives. Refrain from consuming any substance that may impair judgment. Cooperate with all associates and managers.Additional Job Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old. Able to communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, and understand the English language. Available to work flexible hours at nights and on weekends. Requires continuous sitting or standing, lifting, bending, walking, eye/hand coordination, near vision, hearing, and speech. Requires frequent kneeling, manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and color definition. Requires using a telephone. Must be able to read and write English. Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree or certification in Business or similar preferred. Must be able to stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time, as many as 14 hours a day. Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day over various surfaces. Must be able to lift 25 lbs consistently. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs over 25 feet over various surfaces. Must be able to lift and lower 5 lbs above shoulder level. Must be able to climb a stepladder up to 6 ft. in height.
