The Hartford's Umbrella and Excess team provides a valuable risk management tool that can help midsize and large businesses survive a significant liability claim that exceeds the limits of primary coverage. We deliver specialized umbrella and excess solutions in a variety of industries for middle and large commercial clients. And our highly experienced, responsive and accessible team is the driving force behind our best-in-class underwriting, claim and risk engineering capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Providing technical underwriting expertise in the risk selection, pricing, administration and account management of the Umbrella and Excess book of business.

Profitably write and balance the book.

Identify appropriate opportunities consistent with risk appetite.

Creates, drives and executes on strategies for new and renewal accounts.

Consults and provides solutions.

Effectively provides excellent account management service of an assigned territory through strategic planning and operational excellence. Has the ability to tailor a service plan for each client based on their individual needs.

Positively impacts and influences final account pricing and terms.

Establishes and maintains a strong account pipeline.

Manages the sales process including planning, operating routines, and monitoring.

Is well versed about every aspect of The Hartford's Value proposition to best position us for success.

Being professionally demanding and holding internal and external customers accountable.

Qualifications:

3 + years of P&C Carrier Umbrella, Excess and/or Casualty Underwriting is required

Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions

High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit

Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills

Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes

Ability to challenge the status quo and strong desire to win

Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills

Position title and level will be determined upon careful review of the selected candidate's qualifications and experience

Location:

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Frisco, TX or Houston, TX office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$99,040 - $198,360

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
