Allied Universal Security is hiring a K-9 Officer in the Retail Division. The K-9 Officer is accountable for the delivery of K-9 Services for assigned sites. This role is responsible and accountable for assigned deployments and established patrols, and the care, custody, and control of a company-owned canine, to include but not limited to, proper housing and transportation standards. The K-9 Officer must maintain K-9 Team training standards (as established by Allied Universal), training coordination/administration, tracking K-9 team financials, and vehicle maintenance records.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deploy and patrol with K-9 at assigned work sitesConduct routine and prescribed searches utilizing the K-9Maintain K-9 Team training standardsAdministrative duties, such as but not limited to, cost tracking, accident/incident reports, daily activity logs, training logs, and vehicle maintenance logsMaintain an expansive and contemporary knowledge in K-9 tacticsLiaison with clients, senior corporate staff, and Allied Universal® field managementDevelop and deliver K-9 demonstrations to new clients and the general publicNational travel, as necessaryMaintain K-9 team certifications as required by Allied Universal®

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalentLicensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employmentMust possess a valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle requiredPrefer to have at least one of the following:Service in any military branch (including Guard and Reserve)Law enforcement role, with a completed accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal)Municipal or federal correctional officer, including attending a full-time accredited LE/Corrections Academy Armed Security – (Private or Contracted)Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlinesHighly organized and able to keep management on track with required information available at all timesProficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology including PDAs, Nextel phones/pagers, mail merges, Access databases, Outlook, and Internet applicationsProfessional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretionOutstanding oral and written interpersonal communication skillsOTHER RELATED ATTRIBUTES THAT WOULD ENHANCE HIRING CONSIDERATION:These are other criteria that may enhance the hiring decision but would not rule out the candidate for consideration if not present.Prior experience in dual purpose (patrol/detection) K-9 handlingA combination of formal education, training, and skills possessed by an individual with related coursework and practical work experience in security, military and/or the law enforcement industryPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:Interior and exterior work environment with exposure to extreme heat or cold expectedMajor activities include walking, running, standing, stooping, kneelingPhysical effort: raising arms to direct the canine, climbing stairs; ability to maneuver up to 100 lbs. (to maintain control of the canine)Must be able to submit to drug screening to the extent permissible by lawMust be able to submit to background check to the extent permissible by lawReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions

Prior experience in dual purpose (patrol/detection) K-9 handlingA combination of formal education, training, and skills possessed by an individual with related coursework and practical work experience in security, military and/or the law enforcement industry
