The Merchandiser position is responsible for coordination of all facility-level retail operations through compliance with Troon retail programs and standards. The primary objective is to establish The King Kamehameha Golf Club’s Golf Shop as a leader in the golf industry with unparalleled customer service and a unique shopping environment while providing owners with a highly profitable retail operation. In addition, assists in daily golf operations by taking counter shifts - I.E. checking golfers in; selling products; operating the POS system; and making tee sheet reservations.
Essential Duties: Golf Shop/Storage Room Follow established opening, operating (I.E. answering the phone, making tee times), and closing procedures. Rotate stock, keeping displays clean and orderly and creating appealing displays. Monitors guests to assist in loss prevention. Train Golf Shop staff concerning retail policies, procedures, and customer service. In collaboration with the KKGC’s Director of Retail, create and implement merchandise promotions in an annual promotion calendar format. Achieve established merchandise sales goals. Product Ordering/Processing Maintain timely vendor communications for all orders, including custom or special orders. May assist in the design of special products. Enter products into Jonas and inventory. Product tags – create, print, and attach them on all products. Inventory Take responsibility for the retail inventory process by coordinating and participating in the monthly physical inventories. Maintain accurate inventory through established Troon Golf merchandising and accounting procedures. Maintain inventories for all established facility level “in stock” sales categories as established by Area Retail Manager. Process and track all inventory transfers and RA’s. Reports Send all Inventory and Valuation Reports to KKGC’s Director of Retail and KKGC’s Controller in a timely manner. Compile monthly sales and maintain margin reports by sales category and vendor for KKGC’s Director of Retail. Keep KKGC’s Director of Retail buyer apprised of all pertinent KKGC information such as product levels, local trends, and special vendor offerings. General Duties Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as requested. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: Regularly stands for extended periods, walks, uses hands, talks, and hears. Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, or crouches. Frequently lifts 15 pounds and occasionally lifts to 40 pounds. Environment/Noise: This is an indoor position with a minimum level of noise. Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License. Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Excellent understanding of all KKGC policies, procedures, and rates. Strong knowledge of the game of Golf. Professional level verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent guest service skills – with a positive attitude. Exceptional work ethic. Ability to work flexible hours and multitask in a private golf club environment. Must be competent in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook Must be proficient in using the Internet as a professional tool. Strong time management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks given. Willingness and ability to learn about new products and procedures. Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associate may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).Compensation: $25/hr
