Retail Pharmacy Lead Technician

Under the direct supervision of the Retail Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, the Lead Technician will perform a variety of duties related to preparing and dispensing drugs according to BILH pharmacy's procedures and protocols. Assists the Retail Pharmacy Technician Supervisor with insurance audits and solving complicated out of network insurance claims. Performs all required pharmacy tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Works well with others and collaborates for overall pharmacy success of the department. Provides exceptional customer service and accommodates patient requests and resolves any concerns. Coordinates with the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor on a weekly basis to help lead pharmacy improvements. Participates in the interviewing and training of new pharmacy staff. Also assists in overseeing pharmacy technicians, technician trainees and interns in order to optimize pharmacy workflow.

Job Description:

1. Assists with scheduling, daily workflow, technician/intern daily placement, and overall pharmacy organization.

2. Assist in overseeing pharmacy technicians, technician trainees and interns in order to optimize pharmacy workflow.

3. Performs insurance audits and solves complicated out of network insurance claims.

4. Responsible for ensuring timely communication with clinicians and different pharmacy teams.

5. Investigates and resolves prescription issues and communicates directly with patients and providers.

6. Communicates appropriately and professionally with providers, patients, pharmacy team ensuring all issues are triaged efficiently.

7. Manages formulary and medication assistance program inquiries and prioritizes efforts to safely and effectively address any needs.

8.  Participates in quality initiatives and process improvement efforts for prescription requests, prior authorizations, and education for providers, staff, and pharmacy updates.

9. Assist in on-boarding and continuous training programs for pharmacy technicians, technician trainees and interns for BILH Pharmacy.

Required Qualifications:

1.High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

2.Active state certification in Massachusetts.

3.   Certified Pharmacy Technician required (CPhT)

4.   3-5 years related work experience required.

5.Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals (physicians, nurses, administration, etc.)

6.Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv)

2. Knowledge of Epic, PioneerRx and ParataMax preferred.

3. Previous experience with quality assurance.

4.Knowledge and experience with medication reconciliation and 340b compliance and policies.

5.  Previous experience with information systems, prescription prior authorizations, inventory management and prescription home delivery.
