Retail Property Business Partner
Role Overview: The Retail Property Finance Business Partner will be responsible for providing strategic financial support and direction to the Head of Retail Property. This person will oversee all of the business partnering and FP&A activities and deliverables and manage and develop the Retail Property finance team to support these initiatives. This individual will also coordinate across Retail Property stakeholders including Actuarial, Operations, HR, CUO to ensure consistent messaging and facilitate strategic execution. The Retail Property business is a key portfolio within North America General Insurance, writing ~$1.6bn gross premium across domestic and multinational clients. This role will be a key point of contact for the Head of Retail Property, as well as his leadership team across the US and within the London and Multinational segments. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Business Partnership: + Support the development and execution of Business Strategies, influencing the future direction of the company and aligning business and finance strategy to generate sustainable, profitable growth; + Support the overall Finance operating framework by aligning activities and deliverables with the Controllers’, FP&A, Finance Actuarial and Expense Management areas; + Proactive finance business partnering, using business acumen, analytics and professional insight to drive change, growth and profitability; + Embed the use of common key performance metrics and leverage analytics to provide insight that drives action; + Coordinate with Wholesale Property Finance Business Partners to ensure consistent reporting practices across the Property portfolios + Being an active leader in the broader Finance team, developing finance talent and assisting in the delivery of overall business goals (to include leading, mentoring, managing succession plans, fostering a culture of collaboration). Financial Reporting: + Quarterly P&L analysis and insight by segment/zone with appropriate linkage to business strategies and plans; + Provision of timely and relevant financial information to Retail Property business team; + Ensuring all internal financial reporting requirements and deliverables are met in a timely and accurate manner; + Initiate ad-hoc projects and requests to continually improve the financial processes and controls within the Retail Property organization + Support business reviews and other portfolio discussions Financial Forecasting and Planning: + Leading monthly premium forecasting exercise to provide up-to-date revenue expectations to management + Managing quarterly re-forecasting of full P&L results to incorporate changes in premium projections, updating impacts of mix of business on loss and acquisition ratios, and any other relevant changes to expected financial results + Lead annual budget process to ensure accurate projection of top line revenue in line with management strategies and objections, as well as developing projections for all other financial statement line items based on premium expectations + Develop Multiyear plans supporting business strategies for segments and regions. What we're looking for: The candidate will possess proven leadership, management and organizational skills. The successful candidate will have a track record of being able to drive organizational change both within the financial arena and throughout the supported organization. It is imperative that this individual possess excellent business acumen, strong leadership skills, along with the expertise to navigate and achieve the organization's financial goals. This individual must have experience across a broad range of financial disciplines and be a forward thinking and progressive leader. He/she will have extensive knowledge and experience in managing both strategic and tactical activities within finance and have experience managing internal and external business partners across various business disciplines. + 10+ years of progressive accountancy or finance experience + BA degree or equivalent; MBA a plus + Strong Business and Financial acumen and ability to present issues clearly and concisely + Background in Financial statement analysis + Experience in forecasting and modeling and extensive knowledge of business performance and metrics + Experience in performing complex analysis of financial and/or regulatory issues + Superior understanding of the financial dynamics of a Property Casualty insurer and the related growth, profitability and risk drivers. For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range is $140,000 - $155,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
