Overview
Responsibilities will include product support sales, building and maintaining customer relationships, establishing & meeting parts & service sales goals. This includes working directly with the inside product support group, sales manager & marketing personnel in finding ways to target customers to increase sales. This position requires 60% or more of travel time.
Basic Duties
Adhere to all Altorfer safety principles and practices as a representative of the company to our customers.
· Perform inspections on all makes, models, and brands of heavy construction equipment. Equipment will be a wide variety of Caterpillar and other OEM equipment. Inspect all aspects of the machine from top to bottom, document results during the inspection.
· Manage a customer load of up to 150 customers.
Including:
+ Developing and maintain customer relationships.
+ Sell parts and service solutions.
+ Analyzing customer data
+ Cold calling and setting up onsite appointments.
+ Giving presentations on parts and services to increase sales with the customer.
+ Machine walk-arounds and participating in deliveries to new and existing customers.
+ Participate in monthly branch meetings as voice of the customer (VOC)
+ Work with Branch Manager’s and Service teams to ensure the correct mix of service work and discounting.
· Grow sales territory by 25% per year.
· Proficiency in using CRM systems and other sales tools.
· Customer Problem Solving.
· Undercarriage Inspections & Measurements.
· Utilize Caterpillar Programs to increase product support sales.
· Utilize Cat Financial in providing different financing packages.
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of 5 years construction experience preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Marketing or Business degree preferred. Construction, Agriculture, and mechanical background preferred.
+ Must be able to effectively use, implement, and train customers on recent technology related to vision link and job site solutions to help customers grow their business.
+ Computer literacy required. Must be familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
+ Must be an initiative-taker with efficient time management.
+ Must be able to learn and be proficient with latest CAT technology for all pieces of equipment sold.
+ Excellent planning & organizational skills required.
+ Ability to work in a demanding environment.
+ This position will require a good portion of time traveling to customer jobsites. Estimated 40% spent in an office environment, 60% traveling between customer locations and on job sites.
+ Excellent communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are necessary.
+ Position requires walking on uneven terrain of jobsites, bending and lifting to 75lbs.
+ Occasional overnights may be required.
+ Must reside in designated territory or be willing to relocate.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position spends a good portion of time traveling to customer jobsites. Continuous walking, bending, and lifting to 75lbs will be required. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the customer’s site may be moderate to high and office environment noise level is usually moderate to low. May intermittently sit at a desk for a period to answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
