Fiduciary Trust International is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused candidate to join our winning team in Fiduciary Investor Services! The Retirement Pension Specialist, located in is responsible for various types of tax reporting and administrative processing for high-net-worth Individual Retirement.
Accounts and Pension Accounts: The specialist is also responsible for identifying and solving client issues and meeting target deadlines on a consistent basis.
This is a hybrid position located in St. Petersburg, Florida.
What are the ongoing responsibilities?Daily reconciliation and preparation of tax deposit forms, electronic filings, and reconciliation forms for federal and state tax authorities.
Annual filing of IRS tax form 1099-R, IRS tax form 5498, and others required for pension plans and individual retirement accounts.
Process cash management requests/withdrawals from pension plans (via ACH, Check, inter/intra account transfers)
Research and resolve issues regarding client inquiries, payments, tax documents, withholding election, etc.
Respond to internal and external client questions and concerns on a timely basis.
Review and validate client instructions for authenticity.
Research and issuance of corrected IRS tax forms when necessary.
Responsible for completeness and integrity of client data on pension payroll systems.
Participate in client meetings/conference calls as needed.
Provide guidance to the broader organization regarding pension plan activity and individual retirement accounts.
Understand clients’ satisfaction levels, identify client’s recurring problems, and escalate issues to his /her management team.
Provide internal support to other areas within the department. Work closely with peers in these areas in establishing and maintaining best practice service levels.
Maintain knowledge of IRS regulations associated with pension plans and individual retirement accounts.
Participate in department projects.
Perform related duties as assigned.
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
Undergraduate degree in business-related field or 3+ years of relevant investment industry experience
Strong knowledge of retirement plan administration and individual retirement accounts
Knowledge of pension payroll processing
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of business desktop applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, etc.) required
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate on behalf of the company to both internal and external clients
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage challenging external clients and special situations
Ability to effectively prioritize and adapt to changing workloads and deadlines
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively in a team environment
Ability to anticipate service level issues and proactively escalate
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At FTI, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the base salary for this position to range between $45,000 -$55,000.
