As a member of the USB (US Businesses) Creative Team, this individual is responsible for the conceptual development and drafting of copy for various types of promotional advertising, financial materials, and/or internal communications. Ensures that copy is consistent with overall strategic goals of the organization and the appropriate business unit. May be assigned the most complex or high profile copywriting projects. May coordinate activities with design, proofreading, management groups or others to assure quality, timeliness and cost efficiency.

We’re looking for a dynamic, passionate, copywriter who wants the opportunity to tell great stories for one of the most respected, purpose-driven brands in the world—Prudential. The best candidate will have the ability and desire to take complicated financial services content and translate it into simple, concise, compelling copy that inspires consumer audiences to take action. This position will be part of the USB (US Businesses) Creative Team with a specific focus on our Retirement Strategies business, one of the most respected financial services organizations in the world.


We’re looking for a great storyteller and MUST include a proven portfolio of work for at least one of the following audiences: 1) Defined contribution plans (plan sponsors, advisors, and plan consultants), 2) retail wealth management, and 3) Independent Marketing Organizations. We are looking for a copywriter with unrivalled knowledge of these audiences and those without will not be considered.


Reporting into a Creative Director, this copywriter must also possess the ability to lead work, collaborate with a design partner to concept and execute across all media and touchpoints, and understand how to take creative direction with humility. This position supports a fast-paced organization and so the ability to manage complex, multi-step tasks is key to success. Finally, the ideal candidate is an organized self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and a keen ability to think outside the box.

A copywriter who is relentless about asking questions and eager to work with client and pitch and defend the work. The USB Creative Team is fully aligned to helping the US Businesses achieve their goals. So you’ll need to be as passionate about solving business problems and achieving business goals and objectives as you are about doing award-winning creative work.

Location for this role is flexible, but travel to Newark as needed is required.

Responsibilities

Brainstorm, strategize, and create content that promotes products and services for Retirement StrategiesConsult with cross-functional team members and creative leaders to create great copyEstablish and enforce Prudential’s brand, messaging, and voiceEnsure creative material is well-researched, effective and consistent with goals and brand standardsPresent themes and concepts to key stakeholders and business partners, champion that work through to completion, and incorporate learnings for continued improvementInterview business partners, senior executives, subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather the information needed to create effective business messagingStay current on marketing communications trends in and out of the industryBe in the know about various new media communications methodsUnderstand Prudential’s institutional audiences and how to best communicate with themRecognize the nuances of communicating through all media formats and converting messaging to be applicable across all mediaMeet or exceed all deadlines and deliverables


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school7+ years copywriting experience. MUST HAVE a proven portfolio of work for at least one of the following audiences: 1) Defined contribution plans (plan sponsors, advisors, and plan consultants), 2) retail wealth management, and 3) Independent Marketing Organizations.Demonstrated conceptual ability in digital and offline channelsAbility to differentiate between an idea and an executionProficiency in Microsoft Office suiteDetail oriented, sound writing/editorial judgmentClear, concise, and confident verbal communication skillsIntellectual curiosity and a team-oriented, collaborative spiritPortfolio demonstrating skills in all mediaAll applicants must provide a resume and writing samples.

What we offer you:Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $107,200.00 to $159,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
