Overview TRC is seeking a qualified individual to support commercial energy efficiency and green building programs in Oregon. Projects and responsibilities may include retro-commissioning (RCx) analysis of existing commercial building automation systems (BAS), oversight and peer review of third-party contractor RCx projects, peer review of energy efficiency calculations on custom energy efficiency projects, technical and financial analysis for new and existing energy efficiency measures and developing energy efficiency measure calculations.  Candidates must possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. This role will also involve interaction across technical and non-technical teams where strong communication and technical skills are essential. The desired candidate will work collaboratively with program staff and clients to promote energy efficiency and green building projects. The candidate will be presented with a diverse range of projects found in commercial energy systems. This position requires flexibility; attention to detail; diversity of technical expertise; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent customer care skills.  The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities Conduct on-site assessments and BAS trend data analysis to determine whether a building can be retro-commissioned or if it requires a controls upgrade Lead each stage of a RCx assessment, from initial project qualification through scoping, assessment, and analysis Access facility BAS remotely and/or on-site to set new trends and ensure historical capture, as well as export trend data for analysis Assess and make recommendations for optimization on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including multizone, single zone, VAV, make-up air, chiller, boiler, heat recovery, and heat pump systems Work closely with controls contractors to develop final RCx, mechanical and controls upgrade scopes of work Review calculations and assumptions developed by third party technical contractors to estimate or measure savings for energy efficiency and green building projects Develop calculations and reports for in-house engineering studies including technical and financial analysis Keep managers aware of project schedules and progress and provide regular time charging/budget updates as requested Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and quality control of calculations Assist in the development of technical standards, protocols and requirements for innovative energy efficiency offerings, such as monitoring-based commissioning Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations Qualifications Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering 5 years of experience within the green building, energy efficiency, building science, or related fields Experience with analytical requirements for commercial HVAC, central heating, and cooling plants Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Experience with ASHRAE Level I, II, and III audits Familiarity with Building Automation Systems, such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, and ALC Significant experience with MS Excel with emphasis on: RCx data assessments Regression analysis Energy calculations Team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience: Energy efficiency program market in the Pacific Northwest Extensive experience in other aspects of the energy field, such as distributed energy generation, demand response, project economics/rate analysis, project design, renewable energy, and/or energy storage applications Well-developed presentation/public speaking skills Use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technologies PE, CEM or LEED AP accreditation Benefits*: TRC offers a competitive benefit package consisting of: Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance. 401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
