How you'll make an impact Open opportunity for an Accounting Manager within the Revenue Recognition team of the US Accounting COE based in Rolling Meadows, IL. The Accounting Manager will primarily be responsible for managing the month-end close for our centralized revenue accounting function. This role’s main responsibilities are inclusive of technical accounting, analysis, compliance and reporting. Will work closely with operational leads, finance, and auditors. The position will report to the Senior Manager of Accounting. This position requires the ability to work cross-functionally while supporting various divisions within Gallagher. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position requires the individual to have the ability to work effectively with external auditors, divisional business finance leaders and other functional members of the US Accounting COE team. Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents throughout the month for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with general accounting principles and established internal control policies and procedures. Ensure 100% month-end close completeness each month for the revenue team. Ensure complete reconciliation of balance sheet accounts while properly classifying revenue transactions for management reporting requirements. Ensure financial integrity and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes. Review journal entries and other month-end close tasks for the revenue accounting team. Collaborate with other divisions and departments to accomplish goals and resolve issues. Enhance and improve processes. This department is constantly looking to improve efficiency of processes and files. Knowledgeable of external auditor requirements (e.g. PCAOB requirements, internal control documentation requirements) Perform internal controls Provide training and mentorship to other team members About You Required: Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience required. Requires broad general accounting knowledge, including FASB and GAAP regulations. Requires in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Preferred: Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Accounting Public accounting experience CPA required Six or more years of accounting experience in both public accounting and in a public company environment preferred Project management experience Sarbanes-Oxley exposure Insurance Industry or Professional Services experience Strong business system acumen Competencies (Skills & Abilities): Recognized accounting expert with a passion for excellence. Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize issues. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships. Fast learner and a positive professional attitude. Ability to motivate and influence. Advanced skills in Excel.
