Revenue Cycle Clinical Support
The Data Analyst will support the denials and appeals team, clinical documentation team, health information management/corporate coding (HIM) and overall Revenue Cycle needs by providing in-depth data analysis to improve and validate the quality and integrity of patient data throughout the Kaleida Health System. The Data Analyst will have data management, analysis and reporting responsibilities to interpret and transform data into accurate consistent and timely information. The purpose of this position is to provide revenue cycle support, to include: data measurement; metric & monitoring activities; evaluation & analysis; research and solution recommendation; testing & business support; and collection, compilation, distribution of information that enhances revenue cycle performance, including data on clinical documentation, contracting concerns and prepping of denials for auditing team. This position is an essential resource that works collaboratively with several departments to perform and analyze data reports. Additionally, this position will assist in scheduling meetings with Providers and insurance company's and escalating any contracting issues identified. The Data Analyst should be proficient in Microsoft Office, coding software, coding guidelines and conventions. This position will use various sources of internal and external databases that will be used to retrieve data, perform analysis, identify trends and subsequently provide meaningful information to the denials and appeals team, health information management and clinical documentation team to drive decisions that will improve coding quality. This position is an essential resource that works collaboratively with several departments to perform and analyze data reports, SPARCS, DRG Case Mix, APG reports, Service changes and unbilled reports for Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Department and Observation coding. Incumbents with an Associates of Applied Science Degree must obtain and maintain through AHIMA a Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) within 3 years. Incumbents with and RHIT/RHIA must do the same within 3 years.
