The incumbent will develop and implement utility metering products involving complex RF communications, tooling, electronics, software and embedded systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that project initiatives are met. Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you. _The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for an intern is between $25.00 - $30.00/hour. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote._ **We want someone who:** + Participates in RF and antenna design and verification activities within the multi-functional development team in the development of new products from conceptualization through production launch. + Assists in the design and verification of non-RF electrical components such as microprocessors, discrete and integrated power supplies, sensors and other various categories of electronic components. + Is interested in working with the development of electronics in products which enable our customers to control their resources more effectively. + Is interested in developing the building blocks for new core features and functionality for future products. + Wants to participate in the selection and development of suitable RF, digital, analog and power electronics components. + Has a desire and ability to learn new tools and design techniques. + Has a strong sense of ownership and drive. + Is passionate about embedded systems, circuit boards, PCB schematics/layouts. + Has excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Has strong customer focus. **Some of the things we need to see in every candidate:** + Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. + Minimum GPA of 3.0 + Exposure to RF concepts. + Some exposure to common test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frequency analyzers and network analyzers is also highly desired. + Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with both local and remote sites. + Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards. + Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams. **It would be awesome if you:** + Were the Lead Engineer for your last academic - technical project + Have exposure assisting with the development and testing/verifying of embedded systems + Have exposure assisting Quality Assurance and Marketing in investigating and analyzing defective product returned from customers. + Had exposure to a fast-paced team environment where you have interfaced regularly with electrical, back-end software, mechanical and system test engineers on system level design development.
