RF Communications Systems Engineer - Houston, TX 9/80 schedule

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as an RF Communications Systems Engineer for the communication and tracking sub-systems of the Gateway and Exploration programs, a critical integration effort of the NASA Program aimed at returning to the Moon.Develop and write Radio Frequency communication subsystem level Interface Requirements Documents (IRD), Verification Requirements (VRs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for spacecraft. Review IRDs, ICDs, and component level requirements (Transponders, Transceivers, baseband processors).Review link and network layer protocols implemented on communication systems based on CCSDS recommendations.Assess the performance of Radio Frequency (RF) communication links and create link budgets using analytical methods, analysis, and simulations.Actively participate in and contribute to Systems Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews, and Technical Interchange Meetings.Perform Radio Frequency interference and compatibility analysis, Power Flux Density analysis, and Spectral analysis for space-based communication systems.Assist and support the NASA RF communication subsystem manager with reviews, meetings, and serve as the technical Point of Contact.Represent JSC and interface with other NASA centers, federal agencies, and commercial partners.Perform analysis using software such as Matlab, Simulink, and Excel.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED:

Depending on experience, requirements, and business needs, candidates may be considered at any level for which this position has been advertised.Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.Must have 1+ years of recent and related experience.Must have completed college-level RF Communications coursework.Strong analytical skills in RF communications.Strong knowledge of communication systems such as digital modulation, demodulation, encoding/decoding, signal detection, data formatting, and packetizing.DESIRED:
A BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.Onsite position with situational telework only.Experience with NASA processes.Knowledge in antennas, RF propagation, and network layers.Familiarity with CCSDS communication standards.Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.WORK LOCATION:
This position is located onsite.Offers a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.May require some travel.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
