Telecom End-to-End System Architect – Job profile description
Main Role:
The Telecom End-to-End System Architect will provide specialized engineering expertise in the frame of TLC End to End systems and components, in terms of design and analyses, in all phases of a space project life cycle, from design specification to manufacturing, integration, verification phases, up to operations.
It is requested special competence in the frame of E2E system design (link budgets, quality link assessment)
Responsibilities
During Design and Manufacturing Phase
Defines and proposes TLC E2E solution and product candidate architectures, allowing to meet stakeholders’ expectations in compliance with standardisation and reuse policies, technology roadmap and business strategyTo support SEM and Design Authorities providing design trade-off analysis , assessing key performance indicators and parameters in particular for E2E link features aspectsTo provide software based RF analysis to support E2E design projects, bids and R&D activitiesTo capture RF requirements, assess achievable performance of payload architectures, identify improvement opportunitiesTo assess the performance of the E2E communication system, supporting the design trade-off, optimization of technical margins and the relevant presentation to higher level (e.g. customer) as well as the risk assessment linked to lower level marginality’s (e.g. equipment);To perform requirements flow-down, from customer specification down-to antenna/ equipment requirements as well as Ground Segment when applicableTo identify equipment and antenna requirements, to negotiate them with internal and external manufacturers, to support the selection in case of alternativesTo contribute to review design documentationDuring AIV/AIT Phase
To provide primary support of E2E system AIV operationsTo maintain technical interface with Satellite , AIT and Payload Engineering responsible to ensure proper communications test performance and anomaly resolution for E2E systemTo review and maintain consistency with E2E AIV documentation for communication system during AIT phase executionsTo support the anomaly management process through anomaly reviews, corrective action development and payload performance analysisTo participate in AIV/AIT reviews and satellite test activitiesExperience / Qualifications
Master’s Degree or equivalent, with a specialization which includes telecommunication or RF electronics engineering,1-3 years related work experience in RF engineering work, ideally in relation to RF and Digital SystemsKnowledge of E2E system architecture, design and manufacturing:RF equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem (Space and Ground)Link budget and capacity assessmentIntegration and testingQuality control essentialsUsage of SW design tools (STK, Satsoft) is a valuable assetKnowledge of QKD technologies and product is a valuable assetKnowledge of Cybersecurity architectures is a valuable assetExperience in programming languages (Java/C) and payload computer simulation (Matlab, Simulink) and design tools is an assetExcellent English communications skills both written and oralWillingness to learn new technologies and systemsAbility to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlinesGood analytical, organizational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies.At Thales Alenia Space we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
