V2X is hiring an RF Engineer to provide support at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The candidate would support acquisition programs in proceeding through the equipment spectrum certification process to enable the legal radiation of spectrum dependent systems. The process includes creating Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA), developing equipment spectrum certification packages using NTIA software tools like EL-CID online, working with the Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC), obtaining J/F 12’s, assisting in the spectrum assignment process within the US&P and for Host Nation Coordination (HNC). This position is available as a hybrid telework position perfect for commuters in the Virginia and Maryland areas, with approximately 50% of the time remote. Potential to be on travel for 7-10 days for RF Engineering Test events. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Perform and document Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA) for DoD acquisition programs at various stages of development. + Navigate multiple spectrum and frequency allocation databases to find information on systems of interest and apply this information to various platforms. + Research and evaluate spectrum dependent system and equipment characteristics along with performance criteria. + Review the intended use of the equipment and determine and assess its conformance to applicable spectrum standards as defined in the NTIA Manual. Develop spectrum certification requests and submit to NMSC for review and submission to NTIA and/or MC4EB. Qualifications + Education: + BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other related STEM degree + Clearance Requirement: + Active US DoD SECRET Security Clearance. + Experience: + Experience in either RF engineering associated with DoD spectrum dependent systems or in the areas of Navy / Joint Operational Spectrum Management and National Administrative Spectrum Management processes, applications, and systems. + Experience in the application of EMI, EMC criteria, or other engineering criteria for operational spectrum coordination and compatibility analyses. + Experience in the operation and evaluation of communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, navigation aids, and other spectrum-dependent systems, with the ability to conduct analytical evaluation of systems’ RF compatibility and develop frequency plans for operational use. + Experience in conducting spectrum EMI / EMC evaluations, performing engineering analyses to predict and define spectrum EMI problems, define / design corrective measures, and operational implementation of systems within the DoD. + Experience in developing and updating spectrum documentation, operational publications, position papers, white papers, and briefings relating to spectrum considerations and use. + Specific Experience: + 3+ years in the following: + Testing, modeling or evaluating Spectrum Dependent Systems. + RF System Capabilities Analysis + Systems Integration + Spectrum Policy + General RF and electronic technology experience required. + EMI, EMC, RF Engineering, or Spectrum Management + Desired Experience: + Experience in developing spectrum certification following the NTIA Manual of Regulations. Preferably for airborne platforms to include radars, communications systems (terrestrial and space), and EW systems. + Knowledge of systems utilizing the 960-1215MHz frequency band to include IFF interrogators, transponders and test sets, TCAS and transponders.
