RF Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

In this position, the successful candidate will participate in the design and development of pulsed and CW VHF band RF power sources operating at average powers from 300 W to 15 kW. In addition, this individual will participate in the design and development of diagnostics, controls, and other critical analog and digital circuitry which is embedded in the RF power supply. This individual will also be required to support existing products by performing failure analysis, troubleshooting existing designs, evaluating design improvements, and providing production support. In performing these duties, the successful candidate will be required to spend a substantial portion of their time doing hands-on work in the laboratory. 

Design and develop RF circuitry for high power RF generators including schematic capture and printed circuit design.  Provide sustaining engineering for existing and legacy products with failure analysis, troubleshooting existing designs, evaluating design improvements, and providing production support Documentation and communication of results and ideas both, written and by presentation

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fields, and significant laboratory experience RF/Microwave work experience or relevant coursework in RF/microwave design  Masters's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fields is desired.  At least 2 years of work experience in RF circuit design is desired

Skills

Familiarity with Altium Designer (or other PCB design software), ADS, HFSS and/or Microwave Office products  Proficiency with both general purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, waveform generators, etc.) and RF test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.) is required.   While professional experience would be preferred, Coherent will consider candidates with recent degrees.      Since the successful candidate will be required to operate in a cross-functional team environment, communication and interpersonal skills are critical elements for success in this position.
