RF Systems Engineer
Job Title: RF Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled RF Systems Engineer to take a leading technical role in the design and development of navigation aid systems and subsystems. The successful candidate will participate in design and requirements reviews, write requirements documents for RF systems and circuits, and tune, test, develop, and document RF systems and circuitry in a lab environment. You will design and develop receivers, synthesizers, and transmitters for microwave frequencies, along with various RF components such as filters, power dividers, and low-noise amplifiers. Responsibilities + Lead the design and development of navigation aid systems and subsystems. + Participate in design and requirements reviews. + Write requirements documents for RF systems and circuits. + Tune, test, develop, and document RF systems and circuitry in a lab environment. + Design and develop receivers, synthesizers, and transmitters for microwave frequencies. + Design and develop filters, power dividers, couplers, oscillators, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, PIN switches and attenuators, and other RF circuitry. + Generate schematics, perform component placement, and support layout design. + Analyze and develop system concepts incorporating link budgets, statistical performance analysis, and thermal analysis. + Generate engineering documentation including BOMs, schematics, RF system block diagrams, test procedures, technical memos, test reports, power consumption analyses, rack layouts, and cabling diagrams. + Perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, and integration. + Conduct technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements. + Perform customer requirements analysis, develop system requirements, and define allocations to lower levels. + Conduct detailed technical analyses for system, subsystem, or system elements. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. + 10+ years of experience in RF systems design, testing, and analysis within SATCOM. + Hands-on experience with RF component development and integration. + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with PSPICE and similar simulation tools. + Proficiency in Matlab. + Experience with AWR linear and nonlinear RF simulation. + Familiarity with HFSS 3D electromagnetic simulator and Maxwell electrostatic and magnetostatic simulation. + Experience with layout and schematic capture tools. + Board design, analysis, and simulation skills. + Experience with RF analysis/simulation and component level design. Work Environment You will work in a dynamic environment that includes both design and lab work. You will track things down to the board level for your designs and test new filters to ensure they meet specifications. You will work with various hardware design tools and perform RF analysis/simulation at the board level. You will collaborate closely with a tenured RF person who will be available for a few more months before retirement. This is an ongoing role supporting field systems for current and new customers, ensuring continuous development and improvement. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
