Rig Mechanic

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Drilling Maintenance Manager the Rig Mechanic is responsible for the execution, safety, quality, and efficiency of mechanical components of the rig. The Mechanic performs all tasks and duties of a mechanical discipline including but not limited to, installing and maintaining engines, hydraulic motors, pumps, compressors, and miscellaneous mechanical devices.

Essential Functions

Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety procedures and company policies. Responsible for immediately reporting all accidents and incidents following appropriate procedures. Perform maintenance, and mechanical repair work as well as fault-finding work on rig equipment. Responsible for all mechanical drilling equipment pertaining to the drilling of the well, including circulating, rotating, hoisting or well control systems. Ensure that LOTO System is in place. Comply with proper maintenance procedures in accordance with Ormat's Drilling maintenance program. Ensure safe, and efficient operation of maintenance activities as directed by supervisors and management. Lubricate and service mechanical equipment as specified on the lubrication schedule. Perform inspections of mechanical equipment as required. Responsible for mechanical workshop and equipment. Responsible for ensuring that all work is done safely and professionally and actively taking part in safety meetings. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment. Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot and analyze mechanical malfunctions and failures. Responsible for daily reporting of disposable inventory, and updating maintenance records of equipment. Travel extensively to Rig Locations including rural areas domestic and international Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

The ability to understand procedures and instructions in the areas of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school; This is the entry-level Maintenance Mechanic position Must have basic knowledge of mechanical systems and be skilled at working with hand and power tools; Must be able to identify and understand the functionality of various rig equipment; Must be able to recognize hazards, alarms, and warnings and the ability to convey these to the proper personnel; Must have the ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with others; Must be able to safely operate a forklift, heavy equipment, and auxiliary equipment; Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English, at an effective level, to perform work in a safe and efficient manner; Must be able to communicate verbally and visually in a clear and effective manner including in noisy and low-illumination environments; Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner; Must possess, at any time, a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.

 

Physical Requirements

The position requires sitting 10% of the time and Standing 90% The ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly; Must be able to wear a variety of protective equipment as required by safety procedures and regulations; Must be able to frequently climb and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways; Must be able to work at extreme heights and in confined spaces; Position requires standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling; Position operates outdoors, and frequent exposure to severe weather conditions and elements must be able to work in severe weather conditions.
