The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm. 

Within Operational Risk, the Issue Risk Management team has primary responsibility for the Firmwide Issue Management Framework in addition to independent oversight, review and challenge of remediation, root cause analyses and lessons learned in the process of managing actual and potential risk from deficiencies or gaps in controls and processes. The team engages with a wide array of businesses and risk management groups across the Firm; the cross-disciplinary nature of this work makes for a rewarding and multifaceted work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand and apply the firm’s issue management governance, including applicable policies, frameworks and standards. Advise, challenge and influence, as neededEngage with stakeholders across the firm on effective review and challenge of enterprise-wide issues, including root causes analysis, remediation and lessons learnedAnalyze firmwide issues for macro themes, patterns, clustering and emerging risksDevelop data-driven analysis, qualitative assessments and analytical visualizationsPrepare management reporting for the Board, senior management, and stakeholders across the firm to provide a holistic and actionable understanding of firmwide issuesHelp to drive and create presentations or other reporting for senior risk committees focused on key risks, internal/external event reviews and/or new initiativesCoordinate and drive agenda setting for select risk committees at the firm as well as help with minute-taking and synthesizing key points

Experience/skills required:

Bachelor's degree3-5 years in the Financial Services / Banking industryPrior experience in issue management, risk & controls assessment, Operational Risk or Enterprise Risk is preferredStrong understanding of financial and non-financial risk disciplinesExceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracyAssessment, process, and control-oriented mindsetProven experience in driving own book of work and delivering against firmwide and cross-risk initiativesHigh proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
