Risk Engineer, Real Estate

Since launching our Real Estate Industry Practice in 2018 we have enjoyed significant growth and developed a strong reputation, with a particular specialism for leading pan European programmes.  Real Estate remains a key strategic growth priority for Chubb, and the book and team are now at a size where we are seeking a dedicated Risk Engineer to support our continued growth.

Role Purpose:

Risk Engineering, Claims service and Global Service are crucial elements of our Real Estate proposition. The primary purpose of this role is working in conjunction with our Real Estate team, brokers and clients to provide Risk Engineering services to our largest Real Estate clients. This includes design and execution of risk engineering programmes on a multi-national basis, and strategic development of our Real Estate Risk Engineering proposition to enhance client experience. 

The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients in the Real Estate sector, as well as internal stakeholders. They will provide exceptional service for our key clients, and provide risk engineering technical support to Chubb stakeholders. 

There will be a high degree of interfacing with corporate risk management, corporate brokers and various Chubb risk engineering and underwriting offices, so the ideal candidate would be high energy, confident and able to build and manage relationships at multiple levels of an organization.

The role also involves guiding underwriting staff in the risk selection, acquisition, regain & retention of new and existing clients, by summarising risk evaluations and recommending appropriate improvements in accordance with Chubb standards.

This role will report to the UKI Fire Risk Engineering Service Manager , with dotted line to UKI Real Estate Industry Practice Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

Account management responsibility with ability to design and execute on all but the largest domestic and multi-national programs. Produce account overviews & stewardship report for parties involved. Provide risk engineering technical support to all Chubb stakeholders, to help reduce the exposures to the line of business portfolio, but also in the acquisition, retention process. Provide technical support to Chubb clients/insured on new or existing projects etc. Involvement in strategic development (e.g. product development, training programmes, marketing) of risk engineering resource in conjunction with other stakeholders. Competently undertake field surveys on a full range of risk hazard classes without supervision across property and casualty exposures to produce appropriate risk improvement recommendations and to create clear and concise survey reports. Technical advice referral responsibilities and ability provide training and support for more junior risk engineers. Deliver risk engineering marketing & technical presentations to both internal and external audiences as required.  Provide QA, audit and technical support in their field of expertise and general risk engineering operations as required by their manager.  Complete workloads within the Chubb reporting platform and keep work management systems up-to-date. Remain abreast of developments in risk and loss prevention engineering practices, emerging exposures and hazards and market trends. Manage Budget cost assessments for agreed service plans to underwriters and insured’s. Together with Underwriter, Broker and insured develop service plan & budget, implement and monitor execution and monitor the budget conformance to plan. Participate in industry market forums as appropriate. Considerable experience in the field of property loss prevention, preferably within the Real Estate industry. Experience in risk engineering evaluations and account engineering, with technical expertise in property and casualty exposures.Qualified to a minimum of bachelor’s degree level (engineering, science, technology or mathematics) or with other appropriate technical qualifications or practical vocational experienceKnowledge of sprinkler codes to NFPA, LPC/BSEN and other internationally recognised standards.A willingness to travel to service client locations throughout UKI and further afield if required.Continuing Professional Development with an emphasis on engineering as well as encompassing underwriting disciplines where necessary.
