As a Government, Healthcare, Higher Ed and Non-Profits, Senior Associate in the risk organization covering Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Not for Profit Clients across the national footprint, your primary role is the underwriting and management of a high volume portfolio consisting of certain primary and operating exposures assigned to you. You will appropriately assess the risk in your portfolio, diligently managing the portfolio (i.e. renewals, modifications, managing the credit metrics), and meeting internal and external deadlines. You will be a partner to the Bankers across regions, striving to balance sales and credit quality goals. You will be looked upon as a leader both within and outside of Underwriting; you will provide depth to the local credit leadership team and serve as a mentor to less experienced underwriters and bankers.
Responsibilities:
Taking ownership of your portfolio, acting with a sense of urgency, doing whatever it takes to effectively get the job done. Performs credit analysis, due diligence, reviews documentation, and monitors/manages ongoing performance/risk of accounts within his/her assigned portfolio of clients under supervision of their manager. Independently applies strong credit knowledge, policy expertise, and analytical abilities to underwriting client requests and annual reviews. An important deal team member managing transactions to completion with little or no guidance from immediate manager. Has developed knowledge of the specifics of the business unit and/or products being supported. Having the ability to quickly and accurately evaluate smaller relationships to determine if the risk profile is acceptable and recommend simple structures that adequately protect the bank while not over engineering the transaction. Providing leadership in the market by being a positive contributor to the team including: being a mentor to less experienced team members and embracing change. Demonstrating excellent communication skills both internally and externally and using those communication skills to effectively solve problems. The ability and courage to voice your opinion in a clear, concise manner and to defend that position with Management.Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
BA/BBA/MBA degree is required with some accounting and finance Completion of a major corporate or commercial bank credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience) and a thorough understanding of bank credit policies and procedures At least 4 years of experience in commercial banking/lending Strong understanding of primary credit products (revolving lines of credit, term loans, commercial cards, etc.) and operating exposures (ACH, intra-day limits, etc.). Thrives in a fast paced environment specializing in clients with $50MM-150MM in revenue Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required Ability to work independently Ability to build and maintain excellent partnerships and relationships throughout the CB, including bankers, TS, derivatives, implementations, ACH and funds control, internal counsel, service, support groups, etc.
