Job Description
Overview:
The Risk Management Specialist is part of the corporate risk management team that oversees insurance, litigation, claims and document management. This position interfaces with all aspects of Brookfield Properties US risk management function, with an emphasis on document conformity to insurance and indemnity requirements and a sub focus on legal and insurance support.
This position ensures compliance with insurance requirements, facilitates risk management processes, and provides administrative support for insurance-related matters. This is a technical role requiring strong attention to detail and problem solving acumen.
Key Deliverables:
Maintain insurance depository for all insurance policies (current and expired)
Provide 6 month insurance policy expiry report
Conduct detailed reviews of insurance policies to assess coverage terms, limits, exclusions, and endorsements and ensure contracts match requirements for all US residential projects.
Track and follow up on insurance policy documents and policy payments to ensure timely processing
Review and analyze claim submissions and the supporting documents.
Assist with documentation & monitoring of Self-insured Retentions (SIR) expenditures
Assist with insurance policy applications and placement
Coordinate with project teams to maintain and update trademark details with accurate ownership details, expiration dates, and renewal status
Request Certificates of Insurance per contractual requirements and verify compliance with contractual requirements utilizing the Risk Management System.
Gather information for 3rd party incident reports for all lines of insurance
Develop and maintain a comprehensive named insured matrix for all company insurance policies
Coordinate with attorneys to collect responsible subcontractor’s contractual allocations
Assist in providing documentation regarding litigation discovery requests, billing support for legal/litigation requirements, and review of contract redlines to insurance and indemnity
What You Bring:
College degree or paralegal experience required
3+ years work experience with litigation, paralegal or insurance claims management
Knowledge of insurance and/ or real estate terminology is preferred
Demonstrates a high proficiency in using MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel)
Excellent analytical, technical, and organizational skills is needed
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and demonstrated problem-solving skills

Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000
