Position type: Permanent, 35 hours per week

Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Job Purpose:

At this exciting time for the Enterprise Risk team, as we evolve our frameworks to reflect the recent growth in the business and continue to promote risk culture in the organisation, the main purpose of the role is to take shared ownership of the day-to-day maintenance of all elements of the risk management framework.

This mainly consists of the qualitative elements but recognises the ever-growing reliance on more quantitative elements. This role requires significant direct interaction with the business, requiring the individual to demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.

This role will have an added concentration for the risk and governance elements of Finance, Underwriting and Sustainability, including Climate Change risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Assume day-to-day responsibility for the risk and governance elements of Underwriting and Sustainability Risks. Take ownership and responsibility of quarterly risk register review process (and maintenance of related documentation), for Sustainability, as well some shared management and responsibility for some Insurance/Strategic/Finance related risks.Develop relationships with the business (including each of the underwriting teams, finance, etc), ensuring that their risk profiles and control frameworks are understood, working effectively and are documented.Develop the risk framework to ensure it continues to reflect best market practice and needs of the business.Assisting with the maintenance of the Emerging Risks register and framework, including performing deep dive reviews of current hot topics.Assist with the production of ORSA reports. Produce risk reports for various committees including the Risk Committee.Review and update, where necessary, qualitative risk documentation.Other ad hoc duties as required by the business.

Performance Objectives:  

High attention to detail with reporting and MI deliverables.Build relationships within the business. Become a subject matter expert with the risks assigned to this role.Strong feedback from stakeholders within the business.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Five-plus year’s insurance industry experience, within a Risk/second line function. This role has both qualitative and quantitative responsibilities (approximate split 90%/10% respectively). Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional qualification, e.g. Institute of Risk Management, CII.A self-starter, who is highly motivated and enthusiastic.Strong analytical, written and communication skills.Strong management, organisational and planning skills.Excellent attention to detail.Effectively operate in a team-oriented, collaborative setting and able to successfully function in a hybrid working environment.

Desirable:

Experience of using risk software is advantageous.Managerial experience.Experience with technology risk scanning and management.
