OverviewThe Risk Manager/Paralegal is responsible for the coordination of the risk management functions of the organization to mitigate risk to the organization. The Risk Manager/Paralegal also manages the organization’s insurance portfolio, serves as liaison for hospital counsel in litigation matters, and assists with routine contract review and preparation.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
1) Associate degree in Nursing required
2) Bachelor or Master’s degree preferred
3) Paralegal certificate and/or Juris Doctorate degree preferred
Experience:
1) Previous risk management or paralegal experience in the field of healthcare preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1) Advanced knowledge of computer spreadsheets, databases and Microsoft Office Professional
2) Superior oral and written communication; comfort with working in teams
3) Knowledge of State and Federal regulations
4) Experience with The Joint Commission and root cause analysis.
5) Ability to accommodate work schedule to meet the needs of organization
License/Certification/Registration:
1) Valid driver’s license.
2) Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
3) Healthcare risk management certification (e.g., CPHRM) or other applicable certification within 3 years of hire.
