Responsible for performing examinations on loans selected for review from the Popular Auto and Mortgage Loans Portfolio, Accounting Areas (OREO), SR 00-8 Regulation, Banking Law 55 Section 27 (From the Commissioner of Financial Institute), Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), Wholesales and Consumer loans reviews. Accountable for correctly identifying and properly documenting exceptions related to federal law, local and internal policies, and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Evaluates loan documents to determine compliance with credit policies and internal procedures.
• Correctly identifies and documents loan level exceptions.
• Review results with Manager and Senior Examiners to determine whether additional research is required to ensure accurate reporting of findings.
• Communicate / discuss observations with management in an effective and efficient manner.
• Participates in internal or special projects, as assigned.
• Participates in external or internal consumer related trainings to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Accessibility to travel outside Puerto Rico, as required.
Bachelor’s Degree completed in Business Administration: Finance or Accounting. Master’s degree, and/or CPA (preferred)
ExperienceMinimum of 2 -3 years of experience in mortgage banking, auto loans, credit lending or audit experience.
Other Qualifications• Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.
• Proficient in Excel and Word.
• Working knowledge of mortgage loan documentation.
• Working knowledge of auto loan documentation.
• Technical background in ACAPS, MSP and/or related financial systems.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Must be bilingual (English and Spanish) and be able to speak and write both languages fluently.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes and perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work overtime, if necessary.
• Willingness to learn and enhance skills.
• Professional and positive attitude with a willingness to adapt to change.
