The Employee Health Nurse is an experienced professional with the knowledge and skill to support the health and well-being of Kaiser Permanente Georgia employees, physicians, and associate practitioners through programs that focus on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and protection from work-related and environmental hazards. Specific areas of responsibility include but not limited to: monitoring and follow up of pre-employment screening; orientation and training of new employees; management and follow up of blood borne pathogen and communicable disease exposures; program for annual tuberculosis exposure testing, follow up, monitoring, tracking and reporting; development and coordination of annual employee influenza immunization program. This position requires communication, collaboration, and networking with the Health Physician Advisor, the Infectious Disease Physician, KP senior leadership, leaders and staff of the Infection Control, Environmental Health and Safety, Workplace Safety and Human Resources Departments, and with external and interregional employee health / occupational health leaders.
Essential Responsibilities:Perform Employee Health duties for new employee orientation every 2 weeks.
Review pre-employment screening results per policies. If needed, consult Employee Health Physician Advisor for orders, contact employee with instructions and follow up to ensure completion of required pre-employment actions.
Develop and implement a plan to ensure annual PPD screening/testing and follow up of all employees and physicians. Partner with management to ensure compliance, documentation and tracking of annual PPD screening/testing.
In partnership with the KPGA Influenza and Pneumococcal Work Group, develop and implement a plan to administer Flu Vaccine to all employees and physicians annually.
Collaborate with Infection Control, the Infectious Disease Physician and the Employee Health Physician to ensure that employees are screened, counseled and treated in accordance with the TB Exposure Control Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Plan, and all other occupational infectious disease exposure guidelines in accordance with OSHA, NIOSH, CDC or other applicable standards or guidelines. Document, investigate and report exposures according to policies.
Provide training and education related to Employee Health policies and procedures as needed.
Partner to develop and implement Employee Health Policies and Procedures as needed.
Review and revise policies and procedures, to ensure continuing compliance with regulatory requirements.
Remain knowledgeable of OSHA, NIOSH and CDC standards and guidelines through on-going review and research.
Implement and manage Employee Health database to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of employee health requirements.
Establish and maintain confidential employee health records to ensure on-going compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Collaborate and assist the Environmental Health &Safety (EH&S) in completion of the Respiratory Protection Plan requirements, including medical clearance, Fit Testing and training / education, as needed.
Collaborate with infection Control, EH&S and Human Resources (HR)in management of employee health related incidents, including, but not limited to, blood-borne pathogen, environmental and workplace exposures or injuries. Consult and collaborate with KP National and inter-regional employee health leaders to support consistency and standardization across the program.
Attend KP National Employee Health meetings and local meetings and others as required.
Partner to develop annual budgeting requirements for vaccines, testing and supplies and assist Manager with budget preparation. Manage resources and supplies to maintain budget.
Performs other related duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
Minimum two (2) years of current experience as a RN in a clinical setting.
Education
Bachelors (BSN) degree, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. License, Certification, Registration Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association Additional Requirements:
Excellent organizational and communication skills required.Proficiency in the use of applicable software required.Ability to work independently required. Preferred Qualifications:
Employee Health or Occupational Health experience preferred.Masters (MSN) degree.
