The selected candidate will rotate through all nurse responsibilities in Medical Oncology. + Our Fast Track area provides IV access, patient assessments, port access, and prepares patients for exams. + The Treatment area performs delivers Life Changing medication including chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood transfusions, and any other infusion medications the patient may need. + The Exam Nurse area takes phone calls, responds to messages, prepares patients for treatments, provides education, and works closely with our Medical Oncologists. **Responsibilities:** · **Role Model & Leadership** : o Serves as a unit leader in clinical expertise, teaching, specialized resource nursing, and/or evidence-based practice. o Provides feedback to healthcare team members and participates in nursing peer review. o Promotes changes to enhance patient care and unit environment. o Leads and participates in teams effectively. · **Clinical Skills & Patient Care** : o Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment and analytical skills. o Applies the nursing process to create a healing environment. o Sets daily goals and plans of care involving patients as partners. o Communicates patient conditions and negotiates care changes. o Ensures comprehensive patient documentation. o Identifies and addresses clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues. · **Professional Development & Education** : o Enthusiastically precepts students, graduate nurses, and new hires. o Identifies learning opportunities to improve patient care. o Seeks feedback and engages in continuous professional improvement. o Supports continuous learning through sharing research and presenting. · **Quality Improvement & Evidence-Based Practice** : o Identifies opportunities for clinical and workplace improvement. o Applies evidence-based practice regularly. o Leads or participates in teams launching patient care innovations. · **Relationship Building & Workplace Culture** : o Builds and mends relationships among colleagues. o Role models cultural awareness and addresses horizontal violence. o Maintains work-life balance through prioritization and delegation. + Experience: 0-2 years (BSN preferred). + Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. + Relationships: Ability to maintain positive interactions with a diverse team and patients/families. + Physical Requirements: Mobility, manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** UPMC approved nursing certification required. Must maintain certification status. Certification not required if Master's in nursing is held. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. + Basic Life Support (BLS) + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Registered Nurse (RN) *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
