**Responsibilities:**
The Infectious Diseases Division of the University of Rochester provides the clinical services of the Monroe County Sexual Health Clinic through a contract with the County Department of Public Health. The MC clinic is a free, walk in clinic serving a diverse community across a spectrum of ages. This position is responsible to provide clinical care including obtaining a history, performing a physical assessment, providing treatment of STIs, and providing HIV/STI prevention counseling and testing in collaboration with nurse practitioners and medical director. Assess clients’ suitability for HIV PreExposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV PreExposure Prophylaxis, and Doxycycline PostExposure Prophylaxis for the prevention of STIs. This position will rotate with others to coordinate the delivery of care and act as a clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner graduate students, residents, fellows, and community health care providers.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
**Provides direct patient care in NYS Article 28 Clinic:**
+ Perform a health history, including sexual history and behavioral risk assessment
+ Targeted physical examination
+ Administer treatment of sexually transmitted infections
+ Perform venipuncture
+ Provide individualized patient education
+ Seek consultation with nurse practitioners when indicated
+ Identifies other health problems and provides referrals to appropriate health providers for evaluation and management
**Provides STI risk reduction strategies:**
+ Provide HIV pre-test and risk reduction counseling
+ Provides HIV post- test counseling
+ Utilizes a client-centered approach to provide culturally responsive HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services, HIV PEP, Doxy-PEP for STI prevention.
**Provides clinical case management:**
+ Manages laboratory test results, medical follow-up, and calls from patients.
+ Assesses the need for further intervention. Makes individual care plans regarding medical follow-up.
**Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality improvement projects:**
+ Performs clinical audits for QA/QI
**Professional development:**
+ Participates in training and education required by NYSPHL Article 28 regulations
+ Fulfills requirements to maintain licensure as a registered professional nurse from the NYS Department of Education
+ Maintains current knowledge of clinical management of STDs
+ Participates in STD education sessions, including CEI web based training, attending conferences

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Associate’s degree in Nursing and 6 months experience as a Registered Nurse working in an Acute Care setting. RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure NYS Licensure upon hire required.
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program and an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
+ 6 months experience as a Registered Nurse working in an Acute Care setting. Successful completion of orientation at the unit level required.
+ Experience working with Black/African American, Latinx communities, same sex partners, and transgender communities a plus.
+ Strong clinical and phlebotomy skills preferred.
+ Fluency in speaking/reading/writing Spanish desired or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
+ Effective problem solving, interpersonal communication skills and cultural competency preferred.
+ Able to function both independently and as part of a team preferred.
+ Able to take initiative, demonstrate resourcefulness, commitment to follow through and ensure high quality, timely completion of work preferred.
