**General Description** The Charge Nurse assists the Nurse Manager in the daily clinical operations of the PACU/Pre-Op in accordance with established Federal, State, accreditation standards and Surgery Center policies and procedures. **Responsibilities:** + Oversee the daily activity of the Pre-Op/PACU area, communicate any issues to the Nurse Manager. + Coordinate efficient and fair staffing daily, based on schedule and procedural needs. + Takes patient assignment when necessary. + Coordinate staff breaks and lunches. + Provide direction and guidance for staff members concerning individual competencies. + Assist Pre-Op/PACU personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and performance improvement activities. + Conduct Pre-Op/PACU orientations. + Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the Pre-Op/PACU area. + Coordinates with OR Charge nurse to manage patient census, patient acuity, allocation of resources. + Reports equipment issues to nurse manager + Ensure accuracy of medical records. + Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. + Other responsibilities as needed. **Qualifications:** + Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. + Current New York State R.N. license. + BCLS, ACLS required PALS preferred + Minimum 3 years’ recent experience as an OR Nurse, preferably in an Ambulatory Surgery Center. + Charge experience preferred. + Excellent communication and organizational skills. **Other Information:** + Reliable transportation is essential. 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
